There is a place in Japan known as Aokigahara Forest, or to those that know of its darkside, the suicide forest of Japan. Also called the Sea of Trees, Aokigahara Forest is close to Mount Fuji and covers 30 square kilometers. Thousands of people visit the forest weekly to enjoy its abundant open spaces and greenery. Sound is strange in the forest, as Aoikigahara’s base is made up of porous lava laid down by Mount Fuji centuries before. This is the setting for our creepypasta tale for today.
While it is a picturesque place, according to the locals the forest is believed to be haunted by the ghosts of the dead. Over 100 people commit suicide each year in Aokigahara Forest. It’s gotten so bad that signs have been mounted on trails asking people to think of their families, and add details of a suicide prevention office to deter these depressed souls.
“Aokigahara Diary” is a lengthy creepypasta about a foreigner’s visit to this place. Taking up his friend on a dare, the tourist agrees to camp in the forest for a month. Once they get there he settles in quickly but soon discovers the frightening side of the forest is very real, and very haunted indeed.
Have a listen to this chilling audiopasta and imagine yourself walking under the shadowy trees of Aokigahara, and the final place witnessed by many mortals that chose to visit its’ sanctuary. Maybe you won’t be alone.
