A babysitter is hired to watch a six-year-old girl named Abigail. At first it seems like an ordinary job, but the guardian of Abigail gives the babysitter very specific instructions about how to care for their child: not to let Abigail outside, to check on her every hour, and to acknowledge that Abigail has an imaginary friend that the babysitter treats as being real.
As the babysitter continues to learn more about the job’s terms and requirements, the unusual and very specific requests from Abigail’s parents get more elaborate…and stranger. “If you begin to suspect that anyone in the home besides you and Abigail are in the home, leave immediately without Abigail,” reads one of the instructions.
