Halloween night is supposed to be a time for children to walk the neighborhood collecting candy from strangers. In a world where the apocalypse has already happened, what would the kids do? Would there still be a Halloween? Would strangers open their doors and give away their precious food?
That’s the setting for “The Last Halloween”, a nine-minute short film directed by Marc Roussel. In the creepy film four young trick or treaters – a witch, a skeleton, a devil and a ghost – knock on the dilapidated doors asking for candy on a dark Halloween night.
It’s never said what happened to make the world the way that it’s shown, but that’s not needed to enjoy the short. There’s just enough hinted that for your mind to fill in the blanks and come up with your own explanation as to what happened to make this world the way that it’s shown.
Enjoy watching.
